Description: 1493 Incunabula Serta Etas Mundi Foliu CCXXII Nuremberg Chronicle Schedel
Single page of Schedel Hartman's
(1440-1515)
Nuremberg Chronicle
incunabulum published by Anton Koberger in Nuremberg in 1493. Schedel's
Nuremberg Chronicle
was perhaps the most elaborate of its time. Along with the
Nuremberg Chronicle's
standard
biblical paraphrase and description of human history as it relates to the Bible, Schedel's publication also included
more than 1,800 woodcut illustrations. This is perhaps what contributed to its popularity with more than 600 Latin examples surviving today.
The reference drawings for the woodcuts were produced by the workshop of Michael Wolgemut and engraved by
Wilhelm Pleydenwurff.
