1830s GREY STAFFORDSHIRE COVERED SERVING BOWL CANOVA PATTERN T.MAYER WITH LID

Description

Here's a wonderful early 1830s brownish grey transfer printed Staffordshire china covered serving bowl that is in the famous Canova pattern produced by Thomas Mayer at his Stoke-Upon-Trent factory.  The base has his lion & cartouche mark but it is blurred and unreadable...the footed bowl has open handles on each end and measures 4 1/8"tall x 8 1/4"long (handle to handle) x 5 3/8"wide....(6 1/4"tall counting original lid).......base is in excellent shiny nice condition with only 3 or 4 small shallow nicks on inside ledge which is hidden under lid. No hairlines or nicks anywhere else.  Shiny clean with no stains (except around the nicks on inside ledge).....the original matching Canova pattern lid has a flower finial and an open notch spoon hole on edge of lid.  Perfect condition with no nicks or damage. This is one of the finest 1830s Staffordshire serving bowls I've ever seen!  ..
