19th Century Mochaware Large 5 1/2" Blue & Brown Tankard / Mug

Description

This is a beautiful old tankard or large mug
, approximately 5 1/2" tall, 6 5/8" from handle to rim.
Classic Mochaware. White glaze. Two horizontal blue bands near the top and the bottom. Wide brown band with black dendritic tree-like decorations around the middle. Applied handle.
No manufacturer's marks. Presumably made in Staffordshire, England in the 19th century.
In good condition, however there are some flaws (see pictures). It appears that the tankard and the handle were once broken into several pieces which have been glued back together. A couple of small pieces have been lost in the process. However, the tankard is structurally sound and a fine display piece.
