With the ATG Windshield Repair Kit you repair stone chips before cracks spread and thus prevent expensive windshield replacement.
With our ATG Windshield Repair Kit you can repair small stone chips safely. It requires only a little skill, then the result is however just as good and safe as in specialized workshops. In this way you prevent the windscreen from breaking and save a lot of money in the long run.
A minimal part of the stone chipping remains visible even after the repair! This is also the case with professional workshops such as Safelite.
How to Repair Your Damaged Windshield:
Clean the surface using rubbing alcohol and a cleaning cloth. Remove all loose glass splinters from the chipped area using the metal pin. Then clean the surface again inside and out.
Place the adhesive seal with the hole around the damaged area. Then remove the red foil. Make sure there are no air bubbles.
Now take the enclosed black o-rings/sealing rings and insert it into the round opening in the middle of the Adhesive Seal. The o-rings/sealing rings are important, so that no Repair Resin runs out at the side during the subsequent overpreassure! Then glue the red Pedestal with the marking upwards on the Adhesive Seal and press firmly.
Stick the resin base to the seal and fill it with ¾ of the special resin.
Insert the syringe into the base and pull the plunger to the lower notch (this creates a vacuum). Wait 10 minutes.
Take the syringe briefly out and then reinsert it into the base. Push the plunger down until the upper notch is adjacent to the wire frame and hold it there. Wait 15 - 20 minutes.
Remove the base and excess resin with a sharp object. Afterwards clean it with rubbing alcohol.
Drip the remaining resin onto the damaged area and place the transparent film on it.
Let this area dry and then remove the film and excess material. Takes 15 minutes, on cloudy days wait for 1 hour
General information:
Tape the stone chip quickly otherwise dust and other dirt will penetrate into the stone chipping. This can lead to the UV resin not hardening and the repair therefore fails!
Do not repair in direct sunlight or on a hot windscreen! Park your car in the shade or in a garage and open the side windows to cool the windscreen.
The outside temperature should be between 50° F and 59° F.
Avoid contact of the UV resin (special resin) with painted surfaces.
An additional UV lamp is not necessary, but advantageous.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Why does the UV resin not harden, although I have followed the instructions exactly?
This can have several reasons. Too much dirt, dust, etc. may have penetrated the stone chip. As a result, the UV resin can no longer harden.
Please note that resin requires UV light. After the repair, place your vehicle with the windscreen in direct sunlight for at least 30 minutes or at least 1 hour if it is cloudy. You can also use a commercially available 8 volt UV lamp (not included in delivery), the curing time is approx. 5 minutes.
2. Does my car insurance pay for this set?
Acutally some car insurers will refund the price of this repair set. Please check with your insurance company.
3. What temperatures can the product be used at?
The ideal temperature is 50° F and 59° F. The glass itself should not be too hot.
4. I have a stone chip in the driver's area, can I repair it with the ATG Windshield Glass Repair Kit?
Repairing a stone chip in the driver's field of vision (an area the size of a A4 sheet directly in front of the driver) is not permitted by law.
5. Do I need an additional UV lamp?
No, but it's advantageous.
6. Can it also be used to repair flaking on the inside of the rear window?
We do not recommend repairing the inside of the windscreen. The repair kit is intended for stone chips on the outside of windscreens.
7.Does the set also work with a glass door, or is it especially for car windows?
If the damage is similar to a stone chipping, our set also works on a glass door. Also here: after the repair at least 30 minutes in the direct sun or at least 1 hour if it is cloudy.
