Rare Childs Bi-color Spatterware Tea SetElsmore Foster Staffordshire England 1840
This is a rare
childs
tea set made for a lucky Victorian child. The spatter ware set is sponge decorated
with
brilliant green
leafwork
and hand painted underglaze red outlining, finished with pearlware glaze. The set was impeccably potted and light bodied when it was made in the early nineteenth century.
A desirable decoration
and color combo
, naive and folky charm and hard to come by in this miniature
child
size. The decoration is very rich, with little white space remaining on the set.
The set comprises:
