    Description

Up for auction we have this Historical Staffordshire Lafayette and Washington Republican pitcher. This is a later copy that was made circa 1900. A bowl with the same transfers is pictured in Chapter 6 page 218 of David And Linda Arman's Anglo - American Ceramics book. This was made to copy the circa 1825 pearlware examples that came in both blue and black transfers commemorating Lafayette's 1824-25 visit to the United States.   The potter added luster to this one. In fair condition with a chip on the spout and one on the top part of the handle. It measures 6 1/2" from the tip of the spout to the handle by 5 1/4" tall. This piece is a way for the collector of Lafayette or Washington to get a pottery piece with their images at a low price.   The early examples bring 00 - 00 in fine condition with blue transfers going higher. Please view my pictures for further condition and feel free to ask me any questions. Satisfaction guaranteed.
