    Description

    Up for auction we have this Historical Staffordshire dark blue platter with a view of "The LaPique vs. The Blanche" from the Shipping Series. In good condition with no cracks,chips or repairs but does have some spots of wear/utensil marks mostly in the sky area.  Still, it has a high shiny glaze and displays quite nice. Usually found in the smaller size, this one measures 16 5/8" by 21 1/2" and dates circa 1820.  In the older reference books, this view is called "The Chesapeake vs the Shannon" a famous War of 1812 battle.  Over thirty years ago a friend of our's wandered into a London print shop and found the source print.  It is now known by it's correct title.  Please view my pictures for further condition and feel free to ask me any questions.
