    Description

Rare Childs Flow Blue Dinner Set Platter
    CORNFLOWER
    Staffordshire England 1820
This is a miniature dollhouse dinner set platter or meat plate c1840. The oval plate is made earthenware with a brilliant cobalt flow blue repeating cornflower motif, finished with pearlware glaze. It measures 3-3/8 inches across.
The form indicates a very early period of children’s pottery. Well made, to the standards usually only found in full-size Staffordshire table wares, the tiny piece is an elegant mixture of formality and whimsy. A perfect start of a set for a doll and toy collector.
The platter is unmarked. We call the pattern Cornflower but we don't know if it has an official name. The tray was most likely made in the Staffordshire region of England from the period of 1810-1820. The maker is unknown.
The platter is in great condition with no
chips cracks or repairs. Glaze pop, dots of kiln dust, stilt marks and other typical firing imperfections, original to the making and typical of the period.  A great little toy dinner set platter to display in the finest ceramic collection or dollhouse! The tiny piece is a doll sized work of art, suitable for display and play. Sold as is, as described.
We have also listed other miniature table wares and tea wares along with other great examples of pearlware and other early children's colorful transferwares this week -- mix and match for a lovely collection.
