    Description

Rare Childs Transfer Printed Dinner Set Plate
    Fruit & Flowers on Lattice
    Charles Meigh England 1840
    This is a lovely miniature
    dollhouse dinner set bowl
c1840. The set is made of white ironstone
    earthenware
with a purple transfer printed lattice fruit and flower vine decoration, beaded trim, finished with pearlware glaze.
The bowl measures 3-3/4 inches across.
The form of the plate indicates an early period of children’s pottery. Well made, to the standards usually only found in full-size Staffordshire table wares, the tiny set is an elegant mixture of formality and whimsy. A perfect filler for an incomplete set, or a start set for a doll and toy collector.
The plate is unmarked. The pattern is sometimes referred to as Lattice & Flower. The set was most likely made by Charles Meigh, a well known pottery maker in the Staffordshire region of England from the period of 1820-1860.
    The plate is in great
    condition with
    no
chips cracks or repairs. A few dots of kiln dust, stilt marks and other typical firing imperfections, original to the making and typical of the period.  A great little toy dinner set plate to display in the finest ceramic collection or dollhouse! The tiny piece is a doll sized work of art, suitable for display and play.
    Sold as is, as described.
